Namibia - VFberg

Abit south and inland from Swakopmund on the open dessert rises Vogelfedersberg. The massive granite inselberg with 25 - 30 degrees slopes rising to 60m from the dessert floor makes a super natural MTB park. Driving up to the top gave a good idea of how sleep the sides are. On decending it's a blind crest until you roll over the edge. By then it's to late to change your mind.

Speed is easily miscalculated, decending down the slopes with out a pedal stroke you realise your speed when turning on the flat ground. The sun hardened sand makes for great 2 wheel drifts, this is when you realise how quick you've come down the side. Climbing back up is easier than excepted as the granite gives great traction.

Using water carved ridges and channels as mini half pipes and berms there plenty of fun to be had on the top. With Vogelfedersberg split into 2 huge pieces, one being a dome and the other a long ridge. We explored both sides and each are as good as the other.

As we had still had plenty of km's to travel to Sossus vlei we had to pack up after close to 2 hours of pure rockin' MTB fun.
